RSS Sir David Attenborough Polar Research Vessel

The Challenge

Designed and manufactured by Lift Emotion, two lifts had to be installed aboard the vessel in time for its sea trials before setting sail to the Antarctic for several years research. 

The Solution

Knowsley Lift Services were appointed to install a passenger crew lift and a pop-up goods / provision hydraulic lift system to transport goods between the helicopter deck and decks below. Installed during the vessel fit out, we successfully handed over both lifts to the client in time for the ship’s maiden voyage.

The commissioning of the state-of-the art ship is part of a major Government investment in polar infrastructure which will keep Britain at the forefront of world-leading research in Antarctica and the Arctic.
